[en] This paper presents data about the aerodynamic parameters of French nasality. Data show that the amount of nasalization of a phoneme depends on its own characteristics as well as on its environment. Oral vowels with a phonemic nasal counterpart are less nasalized than the other ones. Regarding oral consonants, the amount of nasalization is greater for fricatives than stops and for voiced than voiceless consonants. Due to tongue configuration, French back nasal vowels [o~, a~] have more nasal airflow than [è~,oe~]. Context is very powerful in determining the nasalization rate of a segment; carryover nasalization is much stronger than anticipatory nasalization for our 8 Belgian French speakers.
