Privacy Policy


Within the framework of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and in addition to the general privacy protection measures applied at the University of Mons, UMONS draws your attention to the following elements:

Data Controller:

The data controller is UMONS, with its registered office at Place du Parc, 20 to 7000 Mons

Personal data collected:

Authors and users who are members of the university community: the personal data at our disposal are collected partly via the Institution's central databases (surname, first name, identifier, e-mail address, previous and current professional affiliations) and partly via the document submission form (ORCID identifier or SCOPUS) or retrieved from databases external to the institution.

Authors and users external to the university community: the personal data at our disposal (surname, first name, e-mail address, previous and current professional affiliations) are collected via the document submission form completed by a member of the university community when encoding a bibliographic reference

Purposes pursued

The data collected are processed for the purpose of managing the directory to ensure the following services: sustainable preservation of the scientific production of members of the university community, valorization and dissemination of the results of research conducted within the institution. No more or less commercial purpose is pursued.

Access to data - transmission to third parties:

The data collected (with the exception of the email address and the SCOPUS id) are accessible to the entire university community as well as more generally and for the most part to all via the Internet. In particular, this data is accessible in a digital format allowing the export and reuse of metadata by third parties (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH))

Shelf life:

In view of the long-term preservation of the University's scientific production, the data are kept for an indefinite period, as long as the data subject has not requested their withdrawal.

Cookies:

This site only uses technical cookies. In accordance with Art. 129, 1st of the Law on electronic communications, these cookies are exempt from the requirement of consent.

Anonymous information relating to the connection to the ORBI site (IP address, date and place of connection, referrer, keywords used to carry out the search, number of connections, user-agent and actions performed on the site) are however collected by means of a script and used to carry out statistics on the use of the site.

Rights of data subjects:

Subject to the special conditions provided for by the GDPR, any data subject has the right to request access to his or her personal data stored in the ORBi directory, the rectification of data that is inaccurate or incomplete, the erasure of data, the limitation of their processing and their portability.

The person who wishes to do so may, after having duly identified himself, exercise these rights by sending a request to the address dpo@umons.ac.be, Data Protection Officer of UMONS. It also has the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority (https://www.autoriteprotectiondonnees.be , contact@apd-gba.be ).
