Abstract :
[en] This paper reports the results of an experimental investigation aimed at understanding the in?uence of the polishing of the cutter face on the magnitude and orientation of the force mobilized during rock cutting. An extensive series of tests were conducted in several rock specimens using the Rock Strength Device, using both standard and polished rectangular cutters. The results suggest that polishing affects the cutting edge and increases the degree of sharpness of the cutter.
