[en] Attention and contextual processing are two essential cognitive functions for human behavior.
On one hand, attention supports the realization of reflexive activity and therefore allows adaptation to new situations. On the other hand, context processing is essential for the flexible adaptation of behaviors. Thus, attention deficit causes disruption of other cognitive functions and a dysfunction of contextual information processing engenders inadequate behavior as well as social deficits. The latter are observed in individuals with a psychopathic personality disorder. In this article, based on a review of the literature, the response modulation deficit model will be developed. This model enables the understanding of attention and context processing deficit in psychopathy. We will emphasize also the importance of those concepts in psychopathy.
