The binding affinity of complexes 1 and 2 for CT-DNA was previously measured by titration of the complex emission as a function of increasing DNA concentrations (in equivalent phosphate) at constant complex concentration. It should be noted that these values are too small to perform surface plasmon resonance measurements like for 3.

We observed that such smears accompanying the spots on the gel are also present for a complex which is not photoreactive but contains also one TPAC ligand, that is, for [Ru(phen)2(TPAC)2+|.
This overloading also induces other photoreactions such as ODN photocleavages into very small fragments whose radioactivity has not been recorded in the analyzed gels. This is in agreement with the very weak intensity of the radioactivity for the bands corresponding to the starting material, adduct a, and photo-cross-linking (Figure 6 and Supporting Information).
