Assessment of Speech Disorders in Dysarthric Subjects based on the MonPaGe-2.0.2-S Evaldy Protocol

Introduction: This study presents a comprehensive protocol for acoustic data collection used in the initial phase of the present research project. The protocol uses the MonPaGe-2.0.2-S battery and its applications to capture speech productions from patients with various etiologies and severities of dysarthria. It includes both basic and newly added complementary modules in order to provide a detailed evaluation of different aspects of speech, crucial for precise analysis of motor speech disorders. Methods: Participants included individuals diagnosed with dysarthria of diverse etiologies, recruited across several clinical settings in French-speaking countries. The MonPaGe-2.0.2-S battery, consisting of MonPaGe_Passation for recording speech productions, was employed along with additional modules ("Nasality", "Glides", "Phonetic Flexibility") to assess specific aspects of speech motor control. Discussion: This comprehensive data collection will enable us to address key clinical and research objectives in the subsequent phases of the EvalDy project. MonPaGe-2.0.2-S, with its computerized and objective approach, stands out in the limited landscape of standardized tools for assessing motor speech disorders in French. The additional modules enhance our ability to analyze articulatory dynamics and compensatory mechanisms, particularly in patients with Parkinson's disease. By integrating acoustic and articulatory measures, we aim to thoroughly document dysarthric speech, ultimately developing reliable, objective assessment tools that complement existing clinical practices focused on subjective evaluations.
