[en] For a deaf person, processing speech sounds through a cochlear implant (CI) can affect the perception of the vowel nasal feature. However, studies carried out on children with CIs have shown that they can produce and perceive French nasal vowels efficiently by exploiting acoustic cues such as temporal and visual cues, and that perceptual effectiveness varies with the age of implantation and the level of exposure to French Cued Speech.
